Biography: Young, dumb, and pliable. Three highly desirable traits for the peons of the military industrial complex, whether those peons were soldiers or not. Fen Bodain always had aspirations of being a famous singer, dreaming of bringing adoring fans to tears with her music.
Opportunity came a knocking shortly after the conclusion of her basic education in the form of Pan-Galactic Talent, a new media company making waves. Backed by elite investors and promising lucrative futures for everyone involved, PGT boomed in popularity was quickly contracted by the government to spearhead their state-sponsored media initiative.
Having studied music and poetry throughout her years of schooling, Fen Bodain was hired by PGT to live her life the way she always wanted to... Mostly. Now, her choices are made almost exclusively by her manager, her manager's manager, and PGT executives. She lives almost entirely on a ship simply known as Transmitter 7, one of a group of extremely large barges that meanders throughout the galaxy, broadcasting audio and visual holos in a large radius around it. Combined with the other eleven barges in rotation, most of the galaxy is able to access PGT holos at any given time. Planets in close proximity to one of the barges may even have their local broadcasts interrupted by the extremely powerful frequencies being beamed out from the ships.
Performing under the name Zena Empyria, Fen is a singer and dancer first and foremost as a member of Wonderstar. As part of their jobs, they record and release songs and perform live at Imperial military bases. She also takes shift as a radio personality when required, as do most of the other performers she works with.
Though she's not allowed to use her own written songs, management constantly strings her along with promises of working her way up to a more self-sufficient role with songwriting permissions if she works hard enough and stays in line.
Young, dumb, and pliable. Three highly desirable trains for the peons of the military industrial complex, especially those behind the largest propaganda network in the galaxy.
Personality: When Fen first was hired, she struggled with the constant surveillance and control. She kept trying to pave her own way, just like many of her coworkers around her age. But as the months went by, she quickly learned that saying 'yes' with a smile led to more work, more opportunity, and increased pay.
As Zena, she learned to stay optimistic when her old groups lacked popularity, laugh her way through arguments with groupmates, and maintain a playful demeanor on air and on stage to lift the spirits of lonely soldiers, separated from their families for months on end. She was rewarded with fanmail, she was rewarded with her name on the advertisements for shows, and she was rewarded with PGT executives throwing her name around for more lucrative projects.
The chipper persona that Fen put on day after day for months and months, the persona that Zena required to be successful, blurred the lines between reality and fiction with each promotion, with each extra credit put into her bank account. Warm, bubbly, but always aiming higher until she reaches her dream. Such is Zena, so such is Fen.
