Perpetually cast in the shadow of Hutt Space, the Umbral Zone is a narrow crime-ridden region of the Outer Rim dominated by politically neutral worlds and those ensnared by the influence of intergalactic cartels. The various crime syndicates war with each other over the region often, though the Hutts and Pykes remain the most dominant. The Pyke species in particular rules much of this territory, with their influence radiating out from their homeworld Oba Diah and the planet Kessel, from which most of the galaxy’s narcotic spice is produced.
