The South Expanse is a large area of space that was settled millennia ago by the Inner Rim species, looking to exploit the rich region for its natural resources. Despite a long history as part of the Republic and now Empire, the South Expanse has always been treated more like an asset by galactic governments than sovereign land, making the region a hotbed for strife between workers and core-backed enforcers. Controlled today mostly by Imperial corporations, the worlds of the South Expanse fuel the Empire’s war machine, and generations of shipping magnates have built their enterprises on moving the endless stream of raw materials from the South Expanse to the Slice for processing.
