The hull of the Requiem hummed with energy as it shot through hyperspace, the radiance of that far realm spilling into the cockpit and bathing Kav in a soft blue glow. The occasional flicker of white light streaked by him, bent by the mass shadows of the fleeting alien stars he rapidly left behind.
Nu-Class Shuttles came stock with top-of-the-line, Class-1 hyperdrives – but the Requiem could race down hyperlanes even faster than most. The secret to Kav’s speed was in the computation. R3-S7 had been designed to pilot entire Republic fleets and had enough astronavigation data inside its dome to make a veteran Duros explorer blush. With all that power focused on just one little shuttle’s navigation, the astromech had little issues shaving parsec after parsec off his jumps. As a man bred to kill droids, Kav never expected to be so grateful for one.
Eyes glued to his console, Kav watched as his mark approached. He took one hand off the yoke to grip the hyperdrive control arm, ready to bring it downwards.
Steady… and… mark.
With a flash, the hypnotic blue blanket around him ripped away, and the Requiem dropped back into realspace. His view was immediately filled with the rim of the Arkanis System, glittering planets and interstellar clouds spilling out across his canopy and far into the distance. A beautiful sight.
Quickly confirming his long-range sensors were clear, he brought the ship about, and made ready to lay in his final course down the Triellius Trade Route, direct to Enarc.
“Okay R3, you have that final navigation solution?” Kav asked, ready to be gone.
A soliloquy of whistles and buzzes floated from behind his seat, where R3 sat in his droid socket.
“Rodger that, then.”
Kav input the last of the commands to the hyperspace computer and prepared the drive once more. The machine whirred softly, running its calculations, before emitting an affirming tone. Kav brought the hyperdrive control arm forward, and as fast as it had appeared, the Arkanis System stretched into infinity, and was gone, replaced by an all-encompassing blue hue once more.
Kav pushed the hyperspace computer out of his way and stood from the pilot’s seat, ready to stretch his legs and begin preparations for his arrival on Enarc.
