Biography:
Early Life and Republic Service
Nova Vega was born on Coruscant, the core world and heart of the Galactic Republic. Her family was well-connected within the Republic’s political and military circles, and she grew up in an environment that valued loyalty, duty, and the stability the Republic offered. Nova was an excellent student, quickly developing an interest in the intersection of biology, technology, and medicine. She pursued higher education at the prestigious University of Coruscant, earning two high-caliber degrees in biomechanics and cybernetic engineering by her early twenties.
When the Clone Wars broke out, the Republic Medical Corps eagerly utilized Nova's skills. At first, her work focused on saving wounded soldiers and developing life-saving medical technologies, but her curiosity and ambition drew her toward experimental projects that pushed ethical boundaries. Nova saw the limitations of organic soldiers in a war filled with relentless droids, and she began designing cybernetic enhancements to help clone troopers heal faster and return to the battlefield more resilient than before.
Rise Through the New Galactic Empire
When Order 66 was issued, Nova was caught amidst a seismic shift. The Republic she had served transformed quickly into the Galactic Empire, and the newly formed New Order absorbed her and her fellow scientists into its ranks. Nova heard about the Jedi fall, with clone troopers turning on their former commanders without hesitation due to the Jedi’s traitorous deeds, and saw the might and efficiency of the Empire's restructured military machine. While many former Republic loyalists struggled with the Empire's harsher methods, Nova embraced the changes. In her view, the Empire represented the next evolution of order, stability, and scientific progress.
With the Confederacy of Independent Systems facing eradication, Nova was transferred to the Imperial Science Division, where she now had the opportunity to put her ideas into practice on a grander, more morally ambiguous scale. Her work moved from mere healing to a darker interest: enhancing and augmenting soldiers with cybernetics to create a new breed of Imperial warrior, combining the adaptability of humans with the durability and relentlessness of droids. Seeing the value in her ambitions, her superiors promoted her to Senior Captain and placed her in command of a specialized research fleet.
Research on the Dark Trooper Phase 1 Project
Doctor Vega’s primary assignment is developing Dark Trooper Phase 1, a cutting-edge project to create super soldiers through cybernetic augmentation. Though not the lead scientist, her combination of field experience and technical expertise in biomechanical integration made her the ideal candidate to manage this experimental initiative. Phase 1’s goal is to create a prototype soldier that surpasses the limitations of flesh alone, with cybernetics enhancing strength, endurance, and obedience.
Nova performs her research secretly, using the Lucrehulk’s vast hull space to house laboratories, augmented medical droids, and cybernetic facilities. Here, soldiers who can no longer fight due to injuries are subjected to Nova’s experiments.
With the Empire eager for results, she has permission to operate with little interference, reporting her findings directly to the Fleet Admiral who sees the potential of her work. Her early prototypes have shown limited but promising success, with some subjects demonstrating superior resilience and combat potential, though many still struggle with psychological instability due to the cybernetic implants.
Personality:
Important Assets:
- A Victory-class Star Destroyer named Seraphim, which serves as her primary command and tactical base.
- A Lucrehulk-class battleship named Safe Haven, seized from remnants of the CIS and retrofitted to become her personal laboratory and staging ground for her experiments.
- A Nebulon-A Prototype Frigate named Nightingale, which she operates under the guise of a medical ship. This vessel collects wounded soldiers from battlefields to serve as "volunteers" for her experiments. This ship was also the previous ship she commanded before the promotion to Senior Captain. Back then, it was an official medical ship.
- Two Gladiator-class Star Destroyers for heavy support, security, and small-scale engagements.
- Two C70 Chargers for fleet defense.
- Two Gozanti-class Cruisers, outfitted for reconnaissance and logistical support.
- Twelve squadrons of V-wings for escort and perimeter security. Currently docked on the above assets.
- Four TIE Fighter squadrons for fleet defense.
- One TIE Interceptor squadron named the Crimson Skies for air superiority.
Totaling ~ 9000 crew under her direct command
